Preventive Care
Your First Visit
Your first exam in our office includes a visual examination of your teeth, gums, and tongue. This is followed by periodontal probing, diagnosis of any problems, and a discussion of treatment options. We will take a full set of x-rays to check and monitor conditions that cannot be seen during the visual exam. Please note that BC legislation requires you to have had an oral examination by a dentist within 365 days of your cleaning by a hygienist.
Periodontal Services
Periodontal (gum) disease can strike without symptoms and progress without your knowledge. Left untreated, gum disease can destroy the supporting bones in your mouth and negatively impact your overall health. We check the condition of your gums and provide education about maintaining good periodontal health.
Routine Dental Cleaning
Patients should come in for a dental cleaning every six months or as recommended by Dr. Henn or Dr. Andrews. During the cleaning, one of our hygienists will remove tartar and plaque from your teeth and educate you on how to maintain your oral health between visits.
Fluoride Treatments
The benefits of fluoride are widely known. It is the most effective agent available to help prevent tooth decay. We recommend fluoride treatments for our patients. Ask us about it at your visit.
Dental Services
Teeth Whitening
If you have stains on your teeth from coffee, wine, tea, smoking, or other reasons, ask us about teeth whitening. Our Spa Dent Naturals teeth whitening services can make teeth several shades whiter and eliminate stains in a very short time with little to no irritation.
Dental Crowns
If you have cracked, broken, or an extensively decayed tooth, a dental crown may be needed for both structural and cosmetic reasons. A crown has a natural appearance and restores tooth function. A crown may be placed over a damaged tooth or an implant.
Dental Implants
When tooth loss occurs, it’s important to replace it as soon as possible. If the tooth is not replaced, the adjacent teeth will drift into the space, causing issues with bite, speech, and eating. Dental implants with crowns are usually recommended for replacement of single or multiple teeth. Implants consist of a small rod placed in the jaw bone that’s covered by a dental crown. This is a permanent option for tooth replacement.
